Holding a business degree from HEC Lausanne and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, Alain Nicod started his career in 1980 at Arthur Andersen and in 1983 at McKinsey. He then worked as a consultant for leading telecommunication Operators. Since 1989, he participated as share-holder and entrepreneur in young companies active in the field of medical instrumentation (Compex) as well as in the services and IT sectors (LeShop.ch, SourcingParts, Securicard, MNC etc.). He held positions in the management or in the board of directors.
Since 2002, Alain Nicod is the managing partner of VI Partners, a venture capital organization active in Switzerland whose share-holders are blue chip companies. His occupations are focused on the information technology and life sciences sectors. He also contributes through his entrepreneurial background to critical decisions within the companies financed by VI partners. Alain Nicod is a board member of two financial institutions in Switzerland.
Christian Wanner is currently board member. He kicked off LeShop.ch in 1997 with Alain Nicod and led the company from 2001 till 2013. Under his direction, the turnover rose from 11.5 million francs up to 150 million francs (2012).He led the Marketing and Sales team prior to assuming overall responsibility for the company. Christian Wanner created his own IS management consulting firm at the age of 19, during his studies. Before joining LeShop.ch, he worked with Procter & Gamble in Geneva where he gained experience in financial analysis, advertising and brand management of consumer goods in the Health & Beauty Care Division. One of Christian Wanner’s extra-professional activities is his membership in the council of experts that helps put into practice the E-Government Strategy of the Swiss Federal Council.
Christian Wanner holds a university degree in Macro Economics from the HEC Lausanne. After spending 18 years in Latin America, he is fluent in Spanish, French, English, German and Portuguese.
Jesús Martin Garcia
Jesús Martin Garcia started his career at the World Economic Forum. He then worked at McKinsey & Co and led studies in the pharmaceutical and food industries. In 1993, he became an entrepreneur creating, managing and financing several start-ups in Switzerland and in the United States. He co-founded LeShop.ch and also invested seed capital. For more than 10 years, he has also been supporting other start-ups such as Silverwire or VTX. In 2003, he founded Eclosion, a public-private partnership permitting to use discoveries from the life sciences domain for new pharmaceuticals. This inventive set-up was successful in bringing innovations out of the lab into clinical tests phases. He thus kicked-off and funded companies such as GenKyoTex, GeNeuro oder ArisGen.
Jesús Martin Garcia holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and law from Geneva University and a MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a boardmember of different biotechnology companies, industrial and trade associations.
In 1989, Rémi Walbaum founded Axe Communication. In the following 15 years, he counseled prestigious companies on interactive communication strategies and (co-)founded several start-ups in the sector of new technologies, especially in e-commerce (LeShop.ch, Usability Science).Rémi Walbaum has launched various innovative projects in multinational companies such as Novartis, Nestlé or Dupont. A test for interactive TV realized with the Nestlé Easyshop team triggered his idea for the creation of LeShop.ch. His communication skills have also benefited young companies such as Darfish, Solvix or CPA.
Since 2003, Rémi Walbaum is General Director of Create Switzerland. He also teaches at the EPFL, ETHZ and Lausanne Hotel School to share his entrepreneurial experience. He is the co-author of the book “Dieu et la Pub” (God and advertising) and has created a didactical card-game for young entrepreneurs. Today, Rémi Walbaum focuses on developing a new retail business concept and exercises different consulting mandates in Switzerland and abroad.
